Frequently Asked Questions about Buying a Plastering Machine
230 volt also known as single phase machines can be plugged into the mains, 400v also known as 3 phase will require a generator if 400v power is not available. Many newer sites in UK now have 400v installed
The 400v machine will have more power which means it will pump further away and faster
The answer depends on your needs. If you require a machine to help you on your domestic jobs and your team are no more than 3, PFT Wales suggest a PFT Ritmo . We have a few Ritmos in our Range .
However if you have a larger team or work on new building sites where there is no available power we recommend one of our G4 Range
The answer is yes but when we say plastering we refer to one coat plasters or backing plasters like MP75 or Thistle Hardwall
We do not recommend any thistle Finish Products
There have been many attempts and claims that this is possible. The machine technology is certainly capable. The issue lies with the material. Can 1 Operative cope with extra meters that the machine allows you to apply. In short we look at it like this, If 2 plasterers lay on a set each, can 1 plasterer then control and finish the 2 sets to a standard and can he then do it again and again
Pretty much any bagged render, base coat, backing plaster, screed, mineral topcoat, cork, lime the list goes on. Just check the manufacturers website for machine compatability.
Everything you need to go on to your job after you complete your FOC training session. Its all included you wont need any more

- Water pump if required
If you do not have power available then yes, PFT Wales can supply a Honda or Briggs and Stratton Generator to suit your machine selection.
Many G4 users like to have their own generator as they are visiting sites where power is not available.
Not Really. Some plasterers prefer diesel machines over electric simply because they believe them to be easier to use.
Electric machines are in truth simpler to run with less skilled and cheaper labour than a diesel machine and in the right hands a £30k diesel machine will not earn it owner any more than a £5k PFT Ritmo Smart.
The operator can only apply enough on the wall that they can finish comfortably. Therefore a 60 m2 gable will be applied in 60-120 minutes ( depending on the size of the team)
Storage of the electric machine is always simpler aswell
Diesel is considered old technology reliant on staff to run the machine that are very capable at their jobs. Whereas you can teach someone to spray render in a few hours and anyone is capable of loading the electric machine of dry powder
The electric machines are just fed dry powder which is mixed and pumped and sprayed in one operation.
A diesel machine requires a skilled operative to batch mix 6-12 bags to the correct consistency at a time. There is room for error
Electric machines take half a bucket to clean vs half a barrel of water when washing out the diesels mixing chamber and conveying chamber
At least 2.5bar. Machines are supplied with water pumps. we reccomend you use a 220 ltr water butt as a buffer to maintain the water pressure required. It simple we supply a water hose to fill the water butt and suction hose to suck it to the water pump which sends it to the machine.
This will all be shown during a training session
Yes it is . Its included in the price and is held at our Swansea Depot. All you need do is bring bags to practice with.
Frequently Asked Questions about running a Plastering Machine
Depending on the machine, The outputs range from 6 lts a min up to 80 lts min
Single phase machines have a speed dial whereas 3 phase machines require you to change the Rotor and Stator to change the output
Ritmos use B pumps or SD6-3 Pumps
G4 Use D pumps and R pumps
For this you will choose a switchable version. This means you can select the voltage of the power source you wish to use.
The Ritmo XL and G4 switchable are available with this option
For a Ritmo about 3 bags inc one inside the pipe. A g4 holds about 7 inc 1 in the pipe.
If you have someone constantly feeding the machine during the spraying, then this is not an important factor. Just organise the job and have bags close by.
You will need to keep the water filters and air filters clean after each use . 10 minutes work
When it comes to servicing you can book your machine in with us once a year and we will carry out a service for you.
Yes the 230v machines plug straight in.
All this is part of the training. We will be available to answer any questions by telephone when you are on site
10 minutes if you are efficient, 20 minutes if you have to store everything away after each use
A rotor stator set and a mixing shaft will reduce any downtime and waiting for deliveries
Spare water and air fittings are useful
Spare spraying caps, seals and sponge balls are useful.
Yes
The Rotor and Stator is a werable part lasting betweeen 10 and 20 pallets. It is wise to keep a spare
The Mixing shafte can also get worn. These last about 80 -120 pallets
