What Users say about Refina Trowels
The importance of a trowel in the land of plastering is like paint to an artist. It will make or break your finish and is the difference between an easy job or a hard, intense experience. That's why I'm going to talk about the
Refina Superflex 3 Rose Gold
This is a German made trowel which is made from a golden .5mm ultra flexible stainless steel and is extremely light. The blade's thickness is 0.5mm and is tapered making it ideal for finishing (more on that later). It has a smooth, rubber handle and is very comfortable to use.
Now, that's the logistics, let's talk performance. Before I start going into the pros and cons I want to get something out of the way. This trowel is Awesome.
I can honestly say that this is one of the best towels I have ever used. Its comfortable, makes plastering a lot less stressful and provides an amazing finish time and time again. I love it!
However, there are a few things you need to consider, a few words of caution if you will. This is not a trowel to be used through the whole process of plaster. let me explain by getting the small list of cons out of the way first.
Pros to the
Refina Superflex 3 Rose Gold
Let's start with the feel: It's probably the lightest trowel I've ever used. Due to its lightweight steel and rubber handle, this trowel feels light to the touch and easy to use.
I also believe that its flexible blade provides an amazing finish to the plaster. You don't need to use much water and it doesn't take much effort to smooth the plaster down. The other great feature is that it comes pre-broken in (and I don't mean Marshalltown standard "broken in").
You don't need to work on sand cement render for months to give the blade a nice, sharp break. It is ready to use from day one, giving consistent results from the get-go. The amount of time I used to spend breaking new trowels in was a joke.
The ultra-thin steel on the Refina Superflex 3 makes the finish possible from the beginning.
There is one thing that makes this trowel worth keeping. My steel Marshalltown (when broken in) never let me down and is one of the best towels I've ever used but it does have one drawback compared to the Refina Superflex.
Is It Worth Buying A Refina Superflex 3 Rose Gold ?
Why do you need more than one trowel? As mentioned previous one trowel can do everything you need, do you need another one? I'm here to say you do!
Yes, it gives a good finish, yeah its comfortable to use and yes it's generally quite cheap. However, the one thing that sets it apart from the rest is the ultra-flexible blade.
It takes all the tension and stresses out of plastering.
The amount of effort you need to put into getting a beautiful, matte finish is gone when u
